Malcolm Brings Gingham Greetings on the Road to Philly

Cream Cheese? Check. Cheesesteak napkin? Check. Cheese-ball comedy humour? Check. Beautiful female side-kick? Check. Check? Yes please! Of course, Malcolm always pays, with Gingham.
19th December, 2011 (Montreal) Crazy Gingham Getters are just getting back from the NYC International Gingham Convention after a full week of celebration but that doesn't mean you aren't going to see a lot of them out on the road in the next few days. Take Malcolm here, humming the word "Cheese," wrapped up in his Appalachian Gingham Lumber Jack Roadster, ready to hit the Jersey Turnpike as part of the Great Montreal-Philadelphia Gingham Connection. An alliance between these two cities already exists in more ways than one: joint hatred of the Boston Bruins; French Cultural and Political Influence; creative, intelligent, breathtakingly-beautiful women and the fact Philly and the Mountain Island City both kinda feel a bit similar to each other.
So it's not a great wonder to find Malcolm here only too ready to keep the ties that bind ever strengthened. (Now that we have officially set up a deal with Rueben Harley [see here] we'll be getting a mountain of Gingham from Philadelphia.)
OK, it does happen to be the holiday period so perhaps we're capitalizing on the fact Malcolm needs to do some time behind the kitchen sink and keep the home fires burnin', as anybody who loves his mother is prepared to do if it means free room and board in Philadelphia. Think about it though, the first thing Malcolm's mother's going to see is this explosion of Gingham, as he walks in the door. What a gift. Thanks Malcolm.

More Philadelphia Gingham:

South Street Philly is a lively urban space with more murals per square mile than any other pedestrian zone in America and as many artists after NYC, Silver Lake and The Southside of Chicago. The entrance to the district is emblazoned in Gingham. If somebody hadn't beaten me to it, I'd start a restaurant of my own here and make Gingham the basic motif. This is now my Official Second Home folks [see here].

Livin' for the first of December.

Talkin' of Philly Style

 Here is notre ami Arnaud,
modelling a Philly Style Dropshadow
Gingham which is now all the rage.
Philadelphia's contribution to textile design,
haircuts and moustaches is known the
world over. Arnaud comes from Paris,
so therefore it must be true.

Iron-barred stronghold: In Philly, they take their Gingham seriously.

Market Street has long been the source of Gingham ever since the Dutch began to arrive several centuries ago. Traders opened the first ever U.S. Stock Exchange around the corner from where this shot was taken and finally put Philadelphia on the map: the site of the first American Gingham Getter. These strollers along Market Street would not have exactly been called hip cats back then or anything, but they certainly had a few new ideas in how to run a scene, and get things hap'nin'.

PETER'S BACK AND HE'S GOT GINGHAM AGAIN

Free Love Fenner stuck their neck out last weekend to allow us to snap Peter again, wearing his staple Gingham Celebration Shirt.
You heading off home for the holidays? Don't forget to please your folks and wear your Gingham. Staying home alone? With Gingham, you're never alone. Send us your gets: gotgingham@gmail.com

CHILEAN OUT IN THE GINGHAM!

"It's traditional that I escort my daughter to the altar, but I'm not giving away my Gingham."
17th October, 2011 (Montreal) Autumn is in full swing now so the Gingham Gets are turning up indoors more and more. Doesn't matter because when you look great, act smart and feel classy--you can sit in any room in the world. Proving this is our friend Brendan who came all the way from Chile to model this Valparaiso Blue Latin Classic Gingham Retornado (Spanish fashion slang for retro) Long Sleever. Brendan haggled this roof-bender from a shop in the rough and tumble back end of Santiago. Don't worry, Brendan can handle the backstreets of any city in Latin America, having been raised in the Old School and versed in the ways of harmony and diplomacy that come with a well-rounded education. When speaking Spanish, he sounds like he's an envoy from the Embassy. When speaking English, thanks to his parents packing him off to school someplace near Marlborough Country sixty miles outside London, you'd be hard-pressed not to think you're listening to the Headmaster himself. But as soon as you open your eyes and notice he's decked in Gingham you can only think one thing: Man of the World. So here's to Brendan who happened to be in Montreal Town giving away his daughter at her wedding to the one remaining decent eligible bachelor left in this city--so no wonder this Man of the World looks SO over the Moon!

First White Club Collar spotted in Montreal: BOULEVARD ST-LAURENT (this season):

You don't need a daughter's wedding for an excuse to sport Gingham.

STREET GAZER PHILADELPHIA TAKES US SOARING WITH THE EAGLES:

Everybody in Philly is beautiful, according to Street Gazer's Rueben Harvey [see here].

TOP TEN ENTRY ON WORST RECORD ALBUM COVER EVER:

One got prison, the other's Got Gingham. [see here]

And One Last Hurrah From the FASHION TUMBLERS:

Glasses make any woman appear more beautiful, but Gingham makes men want to drive them wherever they want to go.

Robby Demonstrates the Tradition of (Canadian) Thanks Gingham.

Each year so many extra bottles of beer get produced in Canada, they stage a grand cull whereby they beat them over the heads with... bottle openers. We'd like to say this is an annual event, but actually, this savagery happens pretty much every day.
10th of the 10th, 2011 (Montreal) You need to take a quick step back and think about what on earth you're doing with your life, and just give absolute thanks for waking up with lungs full of air and a brain full of thoughts and a day full of food, every now and then. Today across Canada the citizens have been doing just that. Unfortunately, we can't be out there documenting this particularly private affair in all the dining rooms of the nation, so we have to thank photographer Jessica Petunia (see here) for getting behind the Maple Curtain and seeing what exactly these Canadians have to be thankful for. You got it: Gingham. Jessica managed to snap our man Robby here in a Gingham Thanksgiving Special which Robby is fortifying with a brave shot of WD40 or Colt 45, or perhaps it's some lethal homebrew? The great thing about this is we get to let YOU choose what colour Robby's shirt is. That's the magic of black and white photography, counting our blessings and drinking regular amounts of alcohol.

USA bows out of Canadian Thanksgiving in favour of Memorial Day:

Philly's Streetgazer has a long memory. That's why we credit him with this snap. And Columbus for us requiring an eventual Memorial Day.

Montreal Proving Thanks Gingham is in full gear:

Purple Gingham is rare. Shorts in October on the streets of Montreal is rare. Every Get is a gift. Thanks Gingham.

Striping out on his own:

Fact: Sunshine is attracted to Gingham. Skeptical? Where ever there is sunshine, you will find Gingham.

GERMANY CELEBRATES TOO:
Photo Credit: Irwin Kee via twitter at Oktoberfest (Gingham Month) in Munchen, 6am.
Our Bavarian step-uncles have long been celebrating Gingham on an annual basis. They don't like to confuse people by calling it Thanksgiving or Columbus Day or
Tag der gingan (Gingham Day). Instead they make it easy on everybody and name it after the month it occurs in.

Gingham's for Girls

Somewhere over the Rainbow... Louise proves All Gold is Fool's Gold. But not when it comes to Gingham.
11th July, 2011(Montreal)--We profile a lot of guys here at Got Gingham that we almost changed the name to Got Guys in Gingham. Happily more and more Street Action shots are proving we Got Girls in Gingham. There is no better place to start than with our new friend Louise who was very agreeable to being profiled by Got Gingham. I had entered Café Névé where all heads were pointing to the corner in utter worship. At first I thought there was some sort of commotion, but at the end of an indoor rainbow sat Louise ignoring everybody else in the place. Of course I was mad-scared of condescending to ask where she found this dream of a short sleeve Red Gingham Mommie Dearest TKO, so I'm just going to say she must have found it somewhere along the Yellow Brick Road. Thanks Louise, you've got guts, you've got gumption and best of all, you've Got Gingham!

ASHLEY'S GOT GINGHAM:
Class? Check. Intelligence? Check. Capability? Check. Sense of Humour? Check. Knock out taste? Gingham.

In between running the company, keeping the country organized and stopping six lanes of traffic on her walk to work with the wave of an eyelash, Ashley was very generous in sharing this Ultra Fine Point Black and White Dixie Style short sleeve Gingham classic. The UFP gives it this ethereal effect, as if  it changes from Gingham into Houndstooth then to Graph Paper and back again. Luckily Ashley is the no-nonsense, keep it simple and don't get me started-type, or else I'd have been in trouble taking any more of her time. The Gingham Getters are in awe of you Ashley, you've made our Monday.

Gingham has been reincarnated many times over.
Best to indoctrinate, I mean, influence people when they can't speak or have any voice over your style decisions.
Some of us are already in heaven...
And as promised, candid shots from the Indian Festival last weekend:

Asha, from Philadelphia, City of Sisterly Gingham
For more great candid Street gazing may we draw your attention to this blog from Philadelphia aptly called Street Gazing. They happen to capture an enormous amount of Gingham, on film. As in that siver-nitrate old-school stuff. Now don't spend too long there, we want you to come back here eventually. Not all their shots are Gingham, but the street life of Philly is most lovingly snapped by Rueben Harvey.
