Salvatore Rules Rue Ste-Catherine In His Gingham

Salvatore is trying to quit smoking, but his job is just too easy. As for quitting Gingham? Not that simple.

"Hey, check out Salvatore over there!"
2nd April, Twenty-twelve (Montreal) Rue Ste-Catherine in Montreal is one of the more famous streets in the world [see more]. That's where we met our friend here Salvatore, which means he is one of the more famous Salvatore's in the world. Taking a break from his job of simply having to duck watching the Gingham fly off the racks at Zara [see more], Salvatore wanted to say hello to all you springtime Gingham Getters getting ready for the sunshine. Very few can carry off this look of Gingham shirt and tie, but on St-Catherine Street, anything goes. We soon spotted a crowd of guys heading after Salvatore and trying to adopt his 'look.' Can't blame them. Want to, but can't. They've Got Gingham.

Maddie's Got Gingham In the Garden of England

What's the point in having gorgeous cheeks if you ain't got no Gingham?
Maddies' dad has brought her up well.
22nd December, 2011 (Montreal) For the past two weeks or so it's been NYC this, Philadelphia that, Brooklyn all of the above and of course Montreal center and foremost in the Gingham Nation. However, let's not forget our friends across the ocean who are holding up the standard. Right now we've got Maddie winging it in a Special Pink Gingham Mac with Faux Bunny Trim sourced directly in the UK. Look at her ball control as she sizes up her chances before taking a shot on goal. There is no question the ball went in the net with a get-up like this as Maddie parades around the Garden of England. Technically the Garden of England is in Kent, whereas this shot happened to have been taken over the county boundary in Surrey, but from where we are, oh, what's a few miles when it comes to Gingham? Seeing as Maddie's mother happens to be one of my many dear sisters, I guess that makes me her favourite uncle... Being a kid's favourite uncle is a tough job and requires standards in and of itself. One rule I stick to is to let all the others slide, as long as my niece wears Gingham.

Vichy de France:
It's not just celebrities who worry about garbage snoops.
Patrick, our correspondent in France wants us to say goodbye to a few of his special babies... Remember back in September how we brought you shots of his Gingham being sent to the thrift store? Well, here is more Gingham getting recycled which is something we encourage all you Getters to engage in. Remember, you can recycle Gingham as much as you can recycle memories. Nostalgia is a nasty sickness however, making park benches the world over staging grounds for stories about the old days in the motherland. Ignoring whatever else I learned in Doctor School, treat this, or any ailment for that matter, with some new or nearly-new Gingham.

Got Gingham to Rob Like Thief in the Night

Like just about everybody else in Williamsburg, Rob left Miami to broaden his Gingham collection.
4th November, 2011 (Montreal) New York City is the last place you'd think anybody would be celebrating Guy Fawkes, and so it was with us and that's why we went there. Meet Rob. He doesn't care about Guy Fawkes or remembering anything about the Fifth of November or some kinda plot to overthrow the King of Scotland or some such bumpf. All Rob wants is to forget. That's right, forget the pain, forgive all our past disses, and allow for renewal so that history doesn't repeat. That's why he moved from Miami to NYC. One thing about patterns, we see them play out again and again just with different players each time. Edsel Ford's dad once claimed history to be bunk, and yet here we see Rob in a Fairweather All-Intents-and-Purposes Off-Green Gingham Longsleever rolled up just enough to show you he's got game even when he's relaxing. While the rest of the world is carrying around grudges and gripes and moaning about their wardrobe, Rob here is just taking things as they come, in a pattern that has never repeated itself in the annals of history, or played itself out again in the streets or on the runways because it never actually, went away: Gingham. Freeze yourself in time and all of a sudden motion and distance seem meaningless.

The Kids Know Everything that's Going On

If he's not careful, he's gonna peak in High School.
This kid is going to wake up in ten years time and see somebody in Gingham and have a flashback and realize this day was one of his best days ever, cruising the streets without a care in the world in his Gingham, not realizing it's the Gingham that's coating the occasion, not realizing being outdoors with friends, smelling food in the air and the future possibilities for love and affection and the knowledge there's no school till Monday are all part of the quintessential Gingham Experience.

Neil before Jamie the King of Percalle!

Rialto means 'Royal' in some Latin language. Percalle* means royalty in every language.
October is breast cancer month.
31st October, 2011 (Montreal) The Rialto Theatre in Montreal is a Grande Old Dame so what better place to celebrate Halloween with us tonight where they are showing the Rocky Horror Picture Show? Or so we're told...  We don't have time to confirm it so here's Neil and Jamie in their Gingham outside the Theatre two weeks ago. Jamie has opted for the Classic Coral Red Fine-hatch Kiwi-Style standby while Neil is in full form with Gunship Grey Gingham. Proof that beautiful women fly into your arms whenever you wear this stuff is rarely required, but for those of you new to this site, please notice Rachel bringing even more glamour to the proceedings. We even got Jamie to give us a close-up of  his Fine-hatch for our experts to pour over later. This Halloween, not only do we hope you had lots of sweets and treats but you got the chance to prance around in your Gingham.

"I'm hot, and when I'm not, I'm cold as ice
Halloween is the one night of the year when wearing Gingham gives you a free pass to not joining in on the vagaries of costume building. It's a wonderful time for the kiddies, but sometimes you just want to be a man. Or a woman. If you already are a man or a woman and want to be a man or a woman, then you don't need a costume.  You get yourself some Gingham.
"So get outa my way, just step aside, or pay the price."

As you can hear, we've got ourselves an AC/DC fan, singing the words to "Problem Child" as he walks through the streets of Montreal. Not only has he got great taste in shirtage, but he's got a great memory for old 70's Halloween singalongs.

Autumn Bears its Gingham Head

All the leaves are brown but the sky is Gingham...

Even if you're bald, we'd recommend it.
And if you have beautiful hair and don't want to cover it entirely with a wooly hat made of Gingham, do what our special guest Tine does: the Alice band. Straight from Berlin, this rocking chick agreed to show off her locks to the rest of the Got Gingham family. In Montreal to instill in us a bit of the Ich bin ein Berliner vibe, Tine has already had a massive impact on the local art scene. Check out Tine's NYC-style Haarband she scored in some sketchy Eastern Section of the German Capital, pretty much stopping an entire film screening at the Blue Sunshine Theatre so everybody could get a closer look. Watch this space for more contributions, she is here for but a limited time!

*percalle=Gingham in Italian (proving most languages consider it important enough to have their own word for it).

CHILEAN OUT IN THE GINGHAM!

"It's traditional that I escort my daughter to the altar, but I'm not giving away my Gingham."
17th October, 2011 (Montreal) Autumn is in full swing now so the Gingham Gets are turning up indoors more and more. Doesn't matter because when you look great, act smart and feel classy--you can sit in any room in the world. Proving this is our friend Brendan who came all the way from Chile to model this Valparaiso Blue Latin Classic Gingham Retornado (Spanish fashion slang for retro) Long Sleever. Brendan haggled this roof-bender from a shop in the rough and tumble back end of Santiago. Don't worry, Brendan can handle the backstreets of any city in Latin America, having been raised in the Old School and versed in the ways of harmony and diplomacy that come with a well-rounded education. When speaking Spanish, he sounds like he's an envoy from the Embassy. When speaking English, thanks to his parents packing him off to school someplace near Marlborough Country sixty miles outside London, you'd be hard-pressed not to think you're listening to the Headmaster himself. But as soon as you open your eyes and notice he's decked in Gingham you can only think one thing: Man of the World. So here's to Brendan who happened to be in Montreal Town giving away his daughter at her wedding to the one remaining decent eligible bachelor left in this city--so no wonder this Man of the World looks SO over the Moon!

Dreadlocks Go Better With Gingham.

Gingham gives cyclists the edge they need over the Urban Obstacle Course.
4th October, 2011 (Montreal) Autumn is in full swing, and that means it's the last of the live Gingham Gets we're going to be able to get off the streets of Montreal. Don't you worry, Gingham looks great indoors so there's still plenty to look forward to. Take this cool cat we got here biking it in Midtown Montreal wearing NYC-Style Gingham last week, kindly submitted by our contributor Amelie Sauvon. If you've got a bike you most certainly need a lock, but dreads aren't gonna keep your bike secure. For that, you need Gingham. Gingham--the magic security system for all purposes.
In the meantime, let's just relax and watch the summer fade in time for Canadian Thanksgiving.

One day a real rain's gonna come and sweep all the gingham from the streets.

Street Sweepers in Montreal have a dress code to live up to.

Gingham as Social Lubricant: Everybody Loves A Smart Alex

Alex's Got Gingham and has no need to dazzle you with all the silly knowledge he's learned.
21st September, 2011 (Montreal) Social situations can be awkward, especially if you are one of those brainiacs that know everything about a certain topic. One thing about brainiacs is they tend to think a cocktail party is the time to tell us all the information they know rather than catch a good vibe with laughter and funny observations. That's when your eyes glaze over and you start hearing snippets of the conversation next to you, you start nodding and saying uh-huh without really knowing the true meaning of uh-huh. Then you might insert some comment just to prove you've been listening and what will happen? They will tell you that you are wrong!
The corridors are full of brainiacs who want into the party but don't realize they've been silently banned not because they KNOW TOO MUCH but because they've got bad timing. Parties are not the arena to show how smart you are to a girl or tell a guy he's wrong about the minutiae concerning the history of Hip Hop. Parties are for raising everybody's awareness for sure--but it's their awareness in humanity, feelings and the unspoken vibrations of the universe that get locked in after what scientists often refer to as 'Shared Experience.' All too often brainiac's "Shared Experience" involves having read the same comic book or geology dictionary. But there's a better way.
Rather than prove how smart you are, you can now just show just how smart you look. "Easier said then done," says the brainiac. Not true. Check out our man Alex here: totally sharp and not a word coming out of his mouth, yet we know, deep down in his heart lies a voice with all the answers in the universe. No conversation necessary: this Blue and White Gingham Forty-Five Alex brought to us from Brooklyn tells us every thing we need to know. Bored listening to this rant? Alex will wash the glaze from your eyes.
