Josh Scores Got Gingham Victory

.
Never tired of working for City Hall pro bono...Josh's Got Gingham.

15th July, 2011 (Montreal)--It's surprising no trendy parent has named their kid Viateur yet, considering how cool the people on this street look. Ok, some are bagel tourists, coffee a'fashionados and friperie flop-outs, but this time we got the real thing in Josh, sporting a Bermuda Blue Gingham Weekender he says with a whisper, he picked out at H&M. Custom fit, off-the-rack, or stolen from your granpa's attic--as long as you Got Gingham, you can name your kid Viateur, which just off the top of my head is a more medieval sound for Victor. Thanks Josh, every time you take a stroll, you're doing your part for the tourist trade here in Montreal.

Here is More Mile End Magic
Nothing more wonderful than shopping with your girlfriend. As long as you got Gingham.
.
"Darling, we've been shopping for seven and a half hours now. Where to next?"

Send your Gingham Gets to gotgingham@gmail.com like this courtesy of Gingham Getter Keven Franks:

Gingham makes life a walk in the park.

Friday night's major party ideas are probably past the post, but here's one for the rest of the weekend. At lower right we have Emily in a flavourful Gingham Barn Stormer. The original photo can be found HERE.

Aussie Rules Gingham is Now All Over The World

"Been around the World And I--I--I... I just love my Gingham"
14th July, 2011 (Montreal)--While the rest of the world is going crazy over France's birthday Got Gingham had the pleasure of bumping into our surfie mate Nick from Down Under. Now everybody knows Australia is Two Hundred and Thirty Years behind when it comes to Paris Fashion... Well, ok. At least as far as shedding their Royalty goes.
Here we show proof that in fact, wherever you are in the world right now: in Australia it's tomorrow. Check out this Aussie-Style stitch Nick says he got here in Montreal at Mexx during stints between volunteering in Latin America and surfing the world's clothing hubs. Notice how thin the bands on this shirt are--almost breaking the sanctions of Gingham and turning the whole thing into graph paper. But if you take into consideration how the over-lapping junctions in the grid conform to classic Javan weaves, you've gotta put your doubts on the barbie and throw a toast to this Bateman's Bay Green bolt from the future. No wonder they call it New South Wales. Nick can lead the way.

AUSTRALIA WILL ALWAYS BE FAR AHEAD OF US
Bullet-proof Gingham.

Here we see New York Calipso Style Gingham straight from The Outback. Even a dingo couldn't carry away this baby.

Gingham has been tested to give cyclists extra strength and visibility.

Citizen Gingham

"Hey, you touch it--you own it. That'll be thirty-seven thousand dollars please."
13th July, 2011(Montreal)--Today we head upstream to Toronto where we're proud to have been given the rights to show you this Strawberries and Cream Gingham long sleever we here at Got Gingham call a Cake-Walker. It's worn by none other than Julian Finkel--owner of Model Citizen (279 Augusta Ave, Toronto, ON) which doesn't mean you can get any more copies of this absolute bale-over that combines the Pioneer Style with a twist. Not everybody can fold their cuffs up like we see here, tie a bow nor can I imagine there are many insurance companies willing to give Julian coverage on this heirloom, so let's assume this is a very rare public appearance. It was our Toronto jewellery gem Shannon Hazell who helped us land the shot, so here's hoping she keeps her eyes open for more like this. Thanks Toronto, although we rarely show it, we do love you.

U2 Got Gingham?

Sunday, Gingham Sunday.
Thanks go to Heidy over at Moine Urbain. She was at U2-360 last Friday and submitted this shot from the crowd.

Slow and Steady Wins the Gingham.
And finally here is a candid Gingham Shot from the Festival of India in Montreal where somebody proves Gingham and Turtles have a lot in common.

Keeping Gingham on the D.L.

If it ain't Got Gingham, it's a D.L.-breaker.
12th July, 2011 (Montreal)--Meet our latest standout at Got Gingham, the man who goes by the name D.L. Here we get googly-eyed at the sight of his Saturday Blue Gingham long sleever that had everybody in Café Névé wishing for a closer look. Now stand back again and realize this is one of those lost treasures, given to D.L. by a secret benefactor he wanted to keep low-profile. The very fact that D.L. agreed to be part of our Street Action series is incredible considering the company he keeps (just outside camera view were some of the more sought-after pop musicians in France, right now.) They were hanging out for a coffee, keeping it underground, not looking for exposure. But when it comes to Gingham, D.L. was right there for us in joining our cause.

GINGHAM ARMY AT Café Névé
The Three Ginghameers: Green, Blue and Chocolate Milk.
Gingham isn't just for breakfast anymore.
Coffee and Gingham: Java's gift to the world.
Unfortunately lads, Polka always trumps Gingham when it's worn by a female. A rare man wears Polka.
Almost everybody's in Gingham, except--most glaringly--that imposter from the Quebec branch of the Polka-dot Liberation Front. No problem, Gingham lovers can mix with just about any stripe.

And finally some more shots from the Indian Festival in Montreal last weekend:
Dandelions and Gingham, and instant attraction.
No shortage of Gingham at the Indy Fest.

Gingham's for Girls

Somewhere over the Rainbow... Louise proves All Gold is Fool's Gold. But not when it comes to Gingham.
11th July, 2011(Montreal)--We profile a lot of guys here at Got Gingham that we almost changed the name to Got Guys in Gingham. Happily more and more Street Action shots are proving we Got Girls in Gingham. There is no better place to start than with our new friend Louise who was very agreeable to being profiled by Got Gingham. I had entered Café Névé where all heads were pointing to the corner in utter worship. At first I thought there was some sort of commotion, but at the end of an indoor rainbow sat Louise ignoring everybody else in the place. Of course I was mad-scared of condescending to ask where she found this dream of a short sleeve Red Gingham Mommie Dearest TKO, so I'm just going to say she must have found it somewhere along the Yellow Brick Road. Thanks Louise, you've got guts, you've got gumption and best of all, you've Got Gingham!

ASHLEY'S GOT GINGHAM:
Class? Check. Intelligence? Check. Capability? Check. Sense of Humour? Check. Knock out taste? Gingham.

In between running the company, keeping the country organized and stopping six lanes of traffic on her walk to work with the wave of an eyelash, Ashley was very generous in sharing this Ultra Fine Point Black and White Dixie Style short sleeve Gingham classic. The UFP gives it this ethereal effect, as if  it changes from Gingham into Houndstooth then to Graph Paper and back again. Luckily Ashley is the no-nonsense, keep it simple and don't get me started-type, or else I'd have been in trouble taking any more of her time. The Gingham Getters are in awe of you Ashley, you've made our Monday.

Gingham has been reincarnated many times over.
Best to indoctrinate, I mean, influence people when they can't speak or have any voice over your style decisions.
Some of us are already in heaven...
And as promised, candid shots from the Indian Festival last weekend:

Asha, from Philadelphia, City of Sisterly Gingham
For more great candid Street gazing may we draw your attention to this blog from Philadelphia aptly called Street Gazing. They happen to capture an enormous amount of Gingham, on film. As in that siver-nitrate old-school stuff. Now don't spend too long there, we want you to come back here eventually. Not all their shots are Gingham, but the street life of Philly is most lovingly snapped by Rueben Harvey.

Alok's Got Gingham For Rent!

Mohindra:"Not everybody's buying into this whole Gingham thing... I mean we've got to expect the tourists. That's why I'm here."
10th July, 2011 (Montreal)--Business is booming in the Gingham sector, particularly here in Montreal. Today we profile entrepreneur Alok Mohindra who is known for his expertise in helping launch extremely-complicated-to-describe-here innovations for Venture Capitalists, his general all-round good looks and specific discern for certain types of Gingham. Not happy to just stay in the hi-tech, communications and arts promotion league, Alok is now branching deeper into the longings of his fellow Montrealers and offering Gingham for Rent. It's so that everybody can get in on this thing without what Alok calls "All that pesky wantrepreneur start-up capital hassle, like buying outright from the Bay, or somewhere." Instead, all you have to do is stand in front of his corporate office here on St-Laurent Blvd and take a photo of yourself in front of this Royal Green Gingham window case. Now everybody can share in this wonderful love affair we have with life.

Translation: if you're not naked and it's not Gingham, it's useless.
As promised, we've got a busy week ahead with some great Gingham Gets from all around the city and nation. Much of our Gingham Gets were at the the two day Indian Festival in Jean-Mance Park, many of them terrific candids. Here is our professional in-house model Irwin Kee explaining it all to us visually. Proof that Krishna approves of Gingham was evidenced by how much of it was in evidence yesterday, evidently.

Most requested song of the night: Where the Streets have no Gingham.
And as a repeating feature, here is a candid submitted from one of our readers on the way back from the U2 (an Irish rock band) concert last Friday night.
