8th July, 2011 (Montreal)--Around the world we pause this Friday in Remembrance for those who suffered during the 1930's. Prohibition? No Jobs? No Wine? None of this was the main problem. As you can see from these cooks in Melbourne, the Great Gingham Drought of 1935 spelled the end of the roaring 20's. It took five years for all the world's Gingham to be used up and like many other industries, it was the next World War that kick-started the Seventh Wave of Gingham Tradition. As you can see, life can still be lived without certain essentials, so let this picture allow us to appreciate what we do have. And for all of us, no matter how hard it was to get to Friday this week, at least we Got Gingham!

May this be a lesson to us all. Don't worry, we've got lots more Gingham tomorrow. Luckily for us, there's Gingham all over.

7th July, 2011 (Montreal)--The Great Gingham Drought of '85 lasted three and a half years but didn't fully clear up until Grunge was in full-swing in the Nineties. Most people take it for granted during these days of Eighth Wave Gingham (the latest upswing of Gingham availability dating back to the Voyages of Discovery and beginnings of the Industrial Revolution.) So let me remind you of what it was like when there was just no Gingham to be found. Deluxe Vintage Shops didn't really exist back then, the ones that would charge you more than five dollars for a second-hand shirt. You had to scour the Church Sales like you were some kind of Julia Childs of the textile world. Take today for instance--all my current Gingham Gets pics fit better for later in the month and it's our Month-iversary here at Got Gingham and we didn't have anything special. So I went out and bought something. Lay your eyes on this Red Cross Red with epaulettes of 2-inch Flannel I scored from a Friperie I cannot name unless you want us to run out of Gingham again. Ok, it's Flannel but it's the pattern of the weave that makes it a licensed Get. The T-shirt came from upon the island I grew up.

In other patterns of observation, Toronto Jewellery queen-pin Shannon Hazell let me share this with you. Thanks go to the craft work by Kovalum who are doing terrific things with Gingham. Here they show the Club Collar is truly back around. Remember folks--there will be another drought, so get prepared. Tomorrow I will bring you pictures of the last scare.

6th July, 2011 (Montreal)--As promised we bring you our semi-professional model named Vinnie, straight out of Silverlake, Los Angeles. Sourced at a classic vintage shop called Kowboys, take a close look at this magnificent Malibu Blue Gingham Wonder Forty-Five Vinnie brought us. Basically this is a never-seen-before vintage masterpiece that you have to actually stand alongside live-in-the-flesh to believe. We loved it so much Vinnie let us take another shot showing the shirt's versatile beautiful-chick-magnet power.




Our thanks go out to Vinnie for generously allowing us to see what's happening on the West Coast. As is often the case, they are miles ahead of what's happening here, New York and London.

5th July, 2011 (Montreal) After all the Canada Day and US Thanks for Thanksgiving celebrations we wake up today to celebrate the Bicentennial of Venezuela. It's exhausting work partying like this at Got Gingham, but that's why we've brought you J.J. here to take over the show. First off, notice he's behind a desk, which means he means business. To most of us it means he's the boss. Next check out the sleeveless jumper--a look that only the most sturdy of us can pull off (see Alan's Got Gingham.) Most of all, we've gotta hand it to J.J.for the Bolivar Blue Gingham long sleeve soft collar shirt he's got going on, leaving everybody wanting more. Somehow, between the commute, the gym, his mentoring, the dealing with the adoring public and the endeavours of being a new Dad, J.J. found the time to chat about Gingham and show us this Gingham catch he sourced at Urban Jungle. "Don't worry I've got another one I'll show you. I'll bring it tomorrow.'' It'll be the easiest Got Gingham Get we'll have ever got.

United States Finally Wins the World Cup of Gingham

4th July 2011 (Montreal)--Today Got Gingham celebrates the British losing to our American Cousins with that amazing last minute winner at the World Cup Final of 1776. What better way than rolling out this shot of our man Eugene who is honouring them NY Yankees with a crucial 2-inch Eighth Wave Black and White Gingham Forty Five short sleever. No other shirt has that long a classification so far here at Got Gingham. As much as Eugene offers his congratulations to the U.S. on their amazing victory two-hundred and thirty-five years ago, he is smiling not just because of the way in which his beloved Spain won the World Cup a year ago but the fact he's also Got Gingham.

Weekend In Gingham County

3rd July, 2011 (Mont St-Sauveur, Quebec)--Got Gingham Getters have been relaxing on a Canadian Long Weekend with most Montrealais heading out of town to ignore the Royal Couple who happened to be visiting our city looking for Gingham. Unfortunately, Got Gingham is up North and cannot help the Duke and Duchess of Oxbridge-University of London-Guilford Polytechnic, or Kate and Bill as my mum likes to call them.

And to give you a little proof that humans were actually sporting Gingham in the Woods this weekend: Here is Olivier Hamel showing off a Forty-five he scored from his brother's company! We're looking at an inside-track garment by WESC  of yellow-tinted Blue Gingham. If you look carefully you will see the yellow shadow that gives this cut a special glow depending on the angle. Not only can Olivier party in the woods (this is at a secret location near St-Sauveur) with the  best of them, he can lead us through the darkness and to the Promised Land of Gingham with this outrageous limited edition cut.
